Barefoot: Poems for Naked Feet by Stefi Weisburd, ill. by Lori McElrath-Eslick, is one of the books being published on Bank Street College's list for 2009 of the Best Children's Books of the Year. This is one of the most comprehensive annotated book lists for children, aged infant - 14. The Committee reviews over 4,000 titles each year for accuracy and literary quality and considers their emotional impact on children. It chooses the best 600 books, both fiction and nonfiction.

Mehndi is painting designs on the body using a paste made from the leaves of the henna plant. Above is a variation of the elephant pattern that Jagga drew in this month's Cricket "The Henna Boys."
