Lori McElrath-Eslick
Children's book illustrator
The State Park only a couple of miles down the road, so my family and I go
often, to walk, to swim, weather permitting, and to hike the dunes. My husband
is a high school Modern World Studies teacher. My daughter, Camille is a
language student and is graduating from college in 2007, with a degree in
Russian language. My son, Chase is alot of fun, and also a busy boy, he and my
daughter have provided lots of inspiration, for my art. Camille is the main
character in DOES GOD KNOW HOW TO TIE SHOES?-Eerdmans Books-1993. Chase is the
main character and his friend Tommy is Jesus in IF JESUS CAME TO MY HOUSE-
Harpercollins-Spring of 2008. His feet and his sister's are also in the soon
to come out book: BAREFOOT-Boyds Mills Press, also will be out in Spring 2008.
My family is very supportive of my work, though sometimes it is too weird to
have a mom/wife who is an artist, as I like things that are funny-like–I take
pictures of snow shelters, so we have to stop along the road if ever I see one.
And I am constantly thinking of ideas—for them as well as myself.
